There are all kinds of types of senior housing. Depending on your needs, wants and money available, this will determine what kind of housing you will have later in life. Some places will be by choice, others will be a requirement because of needed care.
For those who are unable to care for themselves, there are assisted living centers for seniors. These allow the residents to have their own room where they can have some freedom but there is always a nursing staff on call to be there and help them throughout the day.
For the senior who can still care for themselves, there are retirement homes. These are basically condos for seniors to live in. The entire building is occupied by seniors and caters to their needs and wants. Some have events throughout the days and weeks where they get together, sing songs and see shows.
There are usually golf courses and swimming pools nearby these facilities as well. These come with the condo fees and can be accessed as often as is wanted. The majority of seniors visit these at least a few times per week. These activities get them out and about, allow them to meet other people and also let them get some much needed exercise.
Near a retirement facility will be the needed stores such as department stores, grocery stores and gift shops. These are close enough that they can be shopped at by the senior or there is often a person on hand that will do the shopping for them for a fee. These errand people will also run out for any other services that are needed.
Senior housing varies depending on what type of state the senior is in. There are services for people who need round-the-clock care, for people who are semi-independent and for seniors who are independent. No matter what care they require there is a place available that will be perfect for them.
